First Sepoy weanlings set to sell on Gold Coast

Helmet, Poet's Voice and Skilled also represented with first-crop youngsters at Magic Millions National Weanling Sale

The much anticipated first-crop weanlings by Champion Sepoy will go on offer for the first time at next week’s Magic Millions National Weanling Sale on the Gold Coast.

A four-time G1 winner, Sepoy became the first juvenile since Courtza in 1989 to claim the Blue Diamond-Golden Slipper double. He was equally as brilliant as a three-year-old, defeating the older horses in the G1 Manikato Stakes before claiming the G1 Coolmore Stakes.

Sepoy will be represented by six weanlings on the Gold Coast including lot 219, a filly out of unraced Giant’s Causeway mare Unspoken Choice, a half-sister to Champion racehorse and stallion Redoute’s Choice.

Four weanlings by record-breaking Caulfield Guineas winner Helmet will also go under the hammer. Lot 354 is a filly out of Sunwise, a three-quarter sister to Lonhro’s G1-winning sprinting son Mental, while lot 417 is a three-quarter brother to Stakes winner Excelorada (Exceed And Excel).

Helmet claimed the first two of his three G1 victories in the Sires’ Produce Stakes and Champagne Stakes as a juvenile and Newhaven Park will offer a Helmet filly as lot 460 on the Gold Coast, a granddaughter of another Sires’ Produce and Champagne Stakes winner in Burst.

Skilled and Poet's Voice also have first crop weanlings on offer next week. Skilled will be represented by lot 378, a colt out of Tre Scalini, while Poet’s Voice is the sire of lot 418, a filly out of Stakes-winning Archway mare Aldarch.

The two-day Magic Millions National Weanling Sale begins on Sunday at 10am AEST.
