Soothing goes from last-to-first in Listed Century Stakes win

Daughter of Lonhro shows rare brilliance in convincing victory

The well-connected mare Soothing showed what she is capable of when she has conditions to suit, and with favourable conditions on her side, the daughter of Lonhro scored impressively in the Listed Century Stakes at Flemington on Thursday, 7 November.

Given as much time as she needed to find her feet, the daughter of Lonhro responded by reeling off a brilliant final 400m to race away from the seasoned Stakes performer Ball Of Muscle (Dubawi) to score by two lengths.

Soothing had turned in a similar performance in Listed company in Adelaide two starts back and had a similar soft track at Flemington, claiming her fourth win on rain-affected going and her seventh win in all.

Already one of her sire Lonhro’s 88 Stakes winners, Soothing is from the family that produced the champion sprinter Black Caviar through the good producer Song Of Norway, a daughter of Scandinavia.

Lonhro has just completed his latest southern hemisphere breeding season at Kelvinside, NSW where he stood at a fee of $77,000 including GST.
