Son of Brazen Beau claims rich New Zealand prize

On The Bubbles overcomes wide gate to score impressively

Brazen Beau colt On The Bubbles staked a claim for the title of New Zealand’s top juvenile with a stunning performance in Saturday’s Listed Karaka Millions 2YO at Ellerslie.

The win in one of NZ’s richest races made On The Bubbles his sire’s 10th Stakes winner and also placed him high among the best Brazen Beaus seen to date.

On The Bubbles started from the outside gate in the 14-runner field with rider Johnathon Parkes making use of the gelding to be one horse off the fence and just behind the leaders after 300m.

Despite working hard early, On The Bubbles surged to the front at the 200m and drew clear to beat  Sneaky Shark with the Darley-sired Avonallo (Belardo) in third place.

The first four across the line were trained by Jamie Richards.

On The Bubbles, the first foal of the Sebring mare More Bubbles who is a half-sister to the G1 winner Politeness (Street Sense), first passed through the sale ring on account of Burnewang North as a weanling where he sold for AU$60,000 then as a yearling this time last year when he made NZ$90,000 at Karaka.

More Bubbles only other foal is a weanling by Impending.
