Brazen Beau filly Mating Call has parlayed staying promise into Black-Type success for the first time with her victory in the Group Three Auraria Stakes at Morphettville.
Giving Brazen Beau his second Australian Stakes winner on Saturday, 11 April, Mating Call sliced through from a worse-than-midfield position to wear down Ghaiyyath filly Freedom Flame.
A half-length separated the pair as they dominated the finish of the 1,800m race.
Mating Call’s win provided Brazen Beau with his second Stakes winner on Saturday after Diameter saluted in the Listed Fernhill Mile at Randwick.
The Auraria is a recognised lead-up to the G1 Australasian Oaks over 2,000m at Morphettville on Saturday, 25 April and Mating Call will be one of the favourites for co-trainers Dan Clarken and Oopy MacGillivray.
Mating Call was tested in the best three-year-old fillies’ company during a Melbourne spring campaign that included a G2 placing in the Edward Manifold Stakes over 1,600m at Flemington.
Bred by Vintage Bloodstock, Mating Call is fifth foal to race from the Australian-bred mare Monopole.
Brazen Beau is the sire of 376 winners of 1,136 races worldwide.
Diameter became Brazen Beau’s 31st individual Stakes winner before Mating Call added to that tally with the stallion’s progeny now collecting more than 50 Black-Type wins overall.
Zapateo, On The Bubbles and Another Prophet are G1 winners sired by Brazen Beau.
