Stakes double for Brazen Beau in Sydney and Adelaide

Cinsault and Power Beau strike within minutes for dual G1-winning sire

Brazen Beau enjoyed a Stakes double on Saturday, 21 February, with feature winners in both Sydney and Adelaide.

At Rosehill Gardens, improving mare Cinsault secured her first Stakes victory when taking the G2 Millie Fox Stakes over 1,300m for trainer Michael Freedman and jockey Chad Schofield. Settled just behind the speed, she took the lead at the 300m and fought strongly to defeat Lazzura by a head, with Dark Glitter 2.5 lengths away in third.

The four-year-old has now won five of her 14 starts, alongside eight placings. She is out of Stakes winner Fitou, who has a half-brother to Cinsault named Tannin by Exceed And Excel and was covered by Bivouac last November.

Just 10 minutes later at Morphettville, Power Beau opened his Stakes account in the Listed City Of Marion Stakes. Trained by Wayne Brown and ridden by Will Price, the five-year-old tracked the leaders before asserting in the straight to defeat Thunder Shoc by 1.4 lengths, with Wonder Boy a long neck away in third.

Second-up from a spell, Power Beau recorded his seventh win from 23 starts, with a further seven placings.

A former Champion three-year-old and dual G1 winner, Brazen Beau has now sired 368 winners of 1,115 races, including 29 individual Stakes winners of 48 Black-Type races. His G1 winners include Zapateo, On The Bubbles and Another Prophet.
