Frosted filly among the top lots at Magic Millions National Weanling Sale

Half-sister to star sprinter Santa Ana Lane makes $300,000
Lot 727: Filly by Frosted x Fast Fleet

A weanling half-sister to Champion Australian sprinter Santa Ana Lane has given her sire Frosted a red-carpet entry into the southern hemisphere market, selling for $300,000 at Friday’s final session of the Magic Millions National Weanling sale.

The filly from Frosted’s first Australian crop came into the ring as a supplementary entry to the catalogue consigned by Aquis Farm, but left it as one of the stars of the sale.

After opening at $100,000, bidding quickly reached the final figure paid by UK-based David Redvers’ Redwall Bloodstock.

The filly is out of the Fastnet Rock mare Fast Fleet whose only two foals to race include Santa Ana Lane who scored the most recent of his five G1 wins in last months TJ Smith Stakes at Randwick.

The family also includes the New Zealand G3 winner Blimey O’Reilly and the South African Stakes winners Doublemint and Petala.

Lot 285: Filly by Teofilo x Lumina

Only four Book One weanlings sold for more than the Frosted filly, among them a filly by Teofilo from the Redoute’s Choice mare Lumina, the dam of the G3-winning filly Pohutukawa (Medaglia d’Oro), who made $425,000.

The filly, offered by Rothwell Park, was purchased by Edinburgh Park Stud.

Among other six-figure sales was Lot 166, a filly by Exceed And Excel from the Lonhro mare Flash Of Innocence.
