NEWS: Epaulette's third crop attracting attention ahead of Inglis Classic

Juvenile Stakes winners from first and second crop boost interest

Epaulette's outstanding string of Stakes-winning juveniles from his first crop placed him stride for stride with Snitzel and I Am Invincible by number of Group winners at the same point in their careers.

From his second crop, two-year-old fillies Epaumada and She Shao Fly won impressively on debut for trainers Tony Gollan and Tony McEvoy.

With credentials as a stallion to accompany those he established as a multiple G1-winning sprinter in Australia, Epaulette has another excellent draft of yearlings at the 2019 Inglis Classic Sale which begins in Sydney on Saturday, 9 February.

One trainer impressed with the Epaulette offering is Sydney handler Lee Curtis whose first-cop Epaulette filly Meryl is a two-time G3 winner.

“If I could find another one like her I’d be very happy,” Curtis said.

“I’ve had a look at several Epaulette yearlings who I’d be very happy to take home.”

One is Lot 97, a colt from the More Than Ready mare More Glory and an entry in the Classic Sale’s Gold Riband section.

More Glory is a half-sister to Miss Minden, the dam of Stakes winner Miss Danehill from the family of prolific broodmare Joie Denise and the good racehorses Tuesday Joy and Sunday Joy.

Another Epaulette to attract early interest is Lot 459, a colt from Lola Cherry Cola, who is closely related to the outstanding filly Appearance, a winner of four G1 races in Australia for Sheikh Mohammed and the leading older female on the World Thoroughbred Rankings in 2014.

Some 1,013 yearlings are catalogued for the Inglis Classic Sale, among them the offspring of 76 Stakes winners, eight of whom won at G1 level.

Darley stallions are represented by 149 yearlings.
