NEWS: Brazen Beau sets Classic Sale record

NZ buyer pays $550,000 for colt from daughter of Dubawi

Darley’s second-crop stallion Brazen Beau has set a new sale record with his colt from the winning Dubawi mare Pouter making $550,000 on Day 3 of the Inglis Classic Sale in Sydney.

The colt consigned by Murrulla Stud, the same farm that offered Brazen Beau as a yearling, is a half-brother to four winners, including Rock Dove, a Listed winner in Tasmania last weekend.

He is also the highest-priced Brazen Beau to be sold at auction and is related to the American G1 winner Dreams Galore, and the US Stakes winners Absent Friend and Fateful Dream.

Having provided the sale-topping yearling at the same sale last year, Brazen Beau is in prime position to repeat the effort in 2019.

The colt was purchased by New Zealand agent Bruce Perry who outlasted a Hong Kong underbidder.

Brazen Beau was already among the leading stallions at the Classic Sale with another three of his yearlings making six figures.
