Brazen Beau sires his first G1 winner

On The Bubbles a class above in bold Manawatu Sires’ Produce win

On The Bubbles has become the first G1 winner for his sire Brazen Beau thanks to a brilliant, front-running performance to win the Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes at Awapuni on Saturday, 3 April.

Already one of Brazen Beau 11 Stakes winners thanks to his success in the Restricted Listed Karaka 2YO Million in January, On The Bubbles produced a last-start G1 second in the Waikato Stud Slipper, this time he gave nothing else a chance after going straight to the lead from his outside gate.

Completely at home on the heavy ground, the gelding set a steady pace to the 600m where he was allowed more reign and quickly opened up a two-length lead that he extended over the final stages, going to the line clear of his Jamie Richards-trained stablemate I Wish I Win, to produce a masterclass three-length victory.

On The Bubbles takes his place on the top line of Brazen Beau’s honour roll that shows 124 winners to the credit of the former champion sprinter.

A $60,000 purchase as a weanling when offered in Sydney in 2019 by his breeder Burnewang North, he sold again at New Zealand Bloodstock's Karaka Sale a year later to the dominant duo of David Ellis and Jamie Richards of Te Akau Racing, who also race 14-time G1 winner Melody Belle (Commands).

On The Bubbles is the first foal of the Sebring mare More Bubbles who has since produced a weanling foal by Impending.

Brazen Beau will stand at Darley’s Northwood Park farm in Victoria in 2021.
