Second win at Stakes victory for Impendabelle

Daughter of Impending too strong in G2 Soliloquy Stakes in Auckland

Impendabelle won her third race and her second against Black-Type opposition when successful in the G2 Soliloquy Stakes for three-year-old fillies over 1,400m at Pukekohe Park on 28 October.

Winner of the G2 Wakefield Challenge Stakes (1,100m) at Wellington last December, Impendabelle showed real courage in the final 200m to hold off Mary Shan by a neck, with Tulsi a neck away in third place in 1 minute 24.02 seconds.

Impendabelle, ridden by Kozzi Asano and trained by Tony Pike at Cambridge, could now run in the New Zealand Guineas (1,600m) at Riccarton on 18 November.

The filly was bred by Monovale Holdings Ltd, offered by Hallmark Stud at the 2022 Karaka Yearling Sale and sold to Brewers Bloodstock for NZ$80,000.

By dual G1 winner Impending out of the Exceed And Excel mare Applegate who won Listed VRC Emirates Plate (1,000m) in 2011 and is also the dam of dual Stakes race winner Cloudy (Frosted) – Impendabelle became the fourth winner for her sire in 72 hours.

Last Thursday, Heart Of Glass and Sunset Dreaming won at Ballarat a day after Jennipending scored at Geelong.

Impending, a son of the mighty Lonhro out of the dual G1-winning mare Mnemosyne, has now sired 53 winners of 92 races.
