Quality mare claims second Group victory

Pearls races away to win the G3 Forum Toy Show Quality

Exceed And Excel continues to cement his place as one of Australia’s leading sires, as Pearls added a second Group victory to her record in the G3 Forum Toy Show Quality over 1300m at Royal Randwick on August 20.

Jumping from an inside barrier, the four-year-old mare found cover in the opening stages of the race to then travel smoothly for jockey Brenton Avdulla. Pearls asserted her dominance in the straight when she showed an impressive turn of foot to dash away from her rivals and claim victory by a half-neck.

Backed by an impeccable lineage of Champions, the daughter of Exceed And Excel is a homebred for Darley. She is a full-sister to record-breaking G1 Caulfiled Guineas winner Helmet, and a three-quarter sister to multiple G1 winner Epaulette.

Pearls is now one of 26 Black type performers for her Champion sire, Exceed And Excel, in 2016 alone. G1 winner Flamberge and fellow Group winners Yattarna and Morawij are among his other notable Stakes winners this year.

Exceed And Excel will stand the coming breeding season at Kelvinside Stud at a fee of $110,000 (inc. GST), alongside his son Helmet, who will stand at $16,500 (inc. GST) at Northwood Park. Epaulette will join Exceed And Excel at Kelvinside at a fee of $22,000 (inc. GST).
