Pretty Brazen adds another Stakes win to Brazen Beau’s tally

Exciting filly scores her sixth win in G2 Let’s Elope Stakes at Flemington

Pretty Brazen maintained the impetus of her sire Brazen Beau overcoming a wide run to score a defiant win in the G2 Let’s Elope Stakes at Flemington on Saturday, 12 September.

Already the winner of the G2 Sandown Guineas last spring, Pretty Brazen is one of 15 individual winners for Brazen Beau this season and one of his nine Stakes winners overall.

Given plenty of racing room by jockey Luke Currie, Pretty Brazen loomed at the 300m from which point a brilliant turn of foot carried her clear and she held off Arcadia Queen to win by a long head.

Pretty Brazen, a daughter of the Stakes-placed Encosta De Lago mare Pretty Penny was bred by Dr D J O’Brien and was a $700,000 yearling purchase at the 2018 Inglis Easter Sale. Pretty Penny is from the family of Tontonan whose five G1 wins included the Golden Slipper and Oakleigh Plate.

Pretty Brazen is one of her dam’s seven to race, all of whom have won.

Brazen Beau, who last season finished first place on the list of Australia’s second-season sires by Stakes winners with five, is standing the current southern hemisphere breeding season at Northwood Park, Victoria at a fee of $49,500 inc GST.
