Pressday powers away to Champagne Classic victory

Domesday records his first Stakes; another Stakes win for Lonhro mare Beaded; another Stakes horse for Lonhro

Resuming from a short let up, Chris Waller’s talented two-year-old colt Pressday (Domesday) took all before him to travel to Brisbane and record a dominant win in the G2 Champagne Classic over 1200m. After jumping away well from the gates, Pressday went on to record a length-and-a-quarter victory over last start Listed winner Spirit Of Boom, with the previously unbeaten Buffering finishing back in third.

Bred by Mr R D See, Pressday is out of the Kaaptive Edition mare Kaaptive Empress, a winner of nine races and a half-sister to the dam of G1 winner The Mighty Lions. Kaaptive Empress has a filly foal by Danzig’s G1 winner Librettist on the ground and was covered by Domesday last season.

Currently enjoying a great season, Domesday has also been represented by the G1-performing filly Divorces and the Stakes placed pair of Exchanges and Domesky. Domesday will stand the upcoming breeding season at Northwood Park at a fee of $11,000 including GST.

The last race of the day saw consistent four-year-old Lonhro mare Beaded record her third Stakes win, taking out the G3 Darley Sprint by a long head. A last start third in the G1 All Aged Stakes, the Peter Snowden-trained mare has raced at Stakes level at her last six starts and has been in the top-three in all of those appearances.

Winning the G3 event by a long head margin, Beaded is one of 11 individual Stakes winner for Lonhro this season and of 14 overall. Currently sitting in fourth position on the general sires’ table, Lonhro will stand at Kelvinside this season for $88,000 including GST.

Earlier in the day Lonhro, the leading the third-season sire was represented by his 33rd Stakes horse when three-year-old filly Jerezana finished from well back in the field to take second in the G3 Lyndhurst Stud Classic.
