Pinwheel goes back-to-back in Warwick Stakes

Sixth Stakes win for son of Lonhro

Lonhro’s son Pinwheel broke through the million-dollar barrier when going back-to-back in Saturday’s G2 Warwick Stakes (1400m) at Warwick Farm.

Rolling forward to challenge into the straight, Pinwheel asserted and came clear 100m out to defeat Dubawi’s daughter Secret Admirer and register his sixth Stakes win to advance his earnings to $1,082,400.

“He’s such a brave horse, he gives you 100 percent every time and no horse deserves to win a race like this more than Pinwheel.” said trainer Peter Snowden.

Bred by Woodlands Stud he is out of the Danehill mare Quilt, and is bred on the same cross as G1 winner Benfica who will stand his first season at stud under the Darley banner in 2012.

Australia’s champion sire in 2011/12 and the sire of 33 Stakes winners, Lonhro will stand at Darley Kelvinside in 2012 at a fee of $110,000 (inc GST).
