New winner for Street Sense

Prince Alzain becomes freshman’s 11th winner of the year

Prince Alzain beat a quality field to become the 11th winner for his young sire Street Sense over an extended mile at Wolverhampton in the UK.

Making his third start, the Gerard Butler-trained colt overcame a difficult draw to travel sweetly throughout before launching his challenge in the straight and running home strongly to win by two lengths.

Bred by Dermot Cantillon and Pat Hayes, Prince Alzain is out of the Zilzal mare Monaassabaat and is a half-brother to Listed juvenile winner Echo River.

Street Sense has made a tremendous start to his stud career in the northern hemisphere, his first runners including the G3 Iroquois Stakes winner Motor City and the G1-placed filly Miss Netta.

Standing the current southern hemisphere season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $38,500 (inc GST) before shuttling to Darley Jonabell in about a month, Street Sense will be represented by 16 yearlings at January's Magic Millions yearling sale on the Gold Coast.
