Lonhro filly shows dashing speed to register her first Stakes victory

Heatherly claims G2 Rubiton Stakes, G1 sprint race next on agenda

Lonhro filly Heatherly showed devastating speed to lead all the way in the G2 Rubiton Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on February 13, becoming her sire’s 57th Stakes winner.

Heatherly, a three-year-old trained by Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra, made it four wins from eight starts and three in succession in registering for first Stakes success.

The talented filly, who was ridden by Katelyn Mallyon, is now likely to target the G1 Oakleigh Plate over the same track and distance on February 27.

Stakes-winning Street Sense mare Politeness was a fast-finishing second in the Rubiton Stakes.

Bred by Standard 2080 Ltd, Heatherley is out of Dancing Heather, an unraced Danzero mare who is from the family of G1 winner Linton. Heatherly is her dam’s only foal to race.

Lonhro, who has sired seven G1 winners including star three-year-old colt Exosphere, stands at Kelvinside along with two G1-winning sons in Denman and Benfica.
