Isotherm rallies late to win the G2 San Marcos Stakes

Son of Lonhro returns to form to notch impressive Stakes victory

Isotherm rallied from just off the pace to win the G2 San Marcos Stakes by a half-length at Santa Anita February 4.

The San Marcos was the second Graded Stakes victory for the four-year-old son of Lonhro. As a two-year-old, Isotherm captured the G3 Pilgrim Stakes at Belmont Park. Isotherm now has finished in the money in half of his twelve career starts.

Settled just behind the leaders in fifth through the early stages of the race, Isotherm began his rally on the far turn, closing strongly while slicing through traffic. Isotherm continued his drive in the stretch, eventually reeling in Itsinthepost in the shadow of the wire to claim the victory.

Bred in Kentucky by H. Allen Poindexter, Isotherm was consigned to the 2014 Keeneland September Yearling Sale by Paramount Sales and sold for $120,000 to Rockbridge Bloodstock. Isotherm is out of Game for More, a Stakes-placed daughter of More Than Ready

Champion three-year-old and now champion sire, Lonhro has eight individual G1 winners to his name, including his sire son Denman who is a winner of the G1 Golden Rose Stakes.
