NEWS: New record for Exceed And Excel at Inglis Easter

Aquis Farm pays $1.7m for son of Darley stallion

A new record price of $1.7 million for a yearling by Exceed And Excel has been paid at the Inglis Easter Sale by the Queensland-based racing and breeding operation Aquis Farm.

The colt, Lot 337, from the Written Tycoon mare Written Dash is the 15th million-dollar yearling to go through the ring and the equal third highest-priced lot at the sale so far.

The price eclipsed the previous best for Exceed And Excel by almost $500,000.

In a bidding contest that involved several of the industry’s biggest names, Aquis prevailed over Coolmore Australia.

Aquis spokesman Shane McGrath said a trainer is yet to be chosen for the colt whose next destination is the organisation’s farm.

The latest sale follows the purchase yesterday of another Exceed And Excel colt for $1.2 million.
