Exceed And Excel fillies claim awards

Guelph and Earthquake honoured at Australian Horse of the Year awards

Champion stallion Exceed And Excel added to his long list of achievements with two of his star daughters claiming awards at the Australian Horse of the Year awards in Melbourne, October 2. The only stallion on the night to have multiple award winners, Exceed And Excel had G1 Blue Diamond winner Earthquake crowned Champion Two-year-old while Guelph won the Champion Three-year-old Filly award.

A three-time Group winner last season, Earthquake’s only defeat in five starts as a juvenile came when she was runner-up on an unsuitable wet track in the G1 Golden Slipper.

A dual G1-winning two-year-old, Guelph returned as a three-year-old last season and proved just as dominant, winning the G1 Flight Stakes and the G1 Thousand Guineas. Retired at the end of the season, Guelph has been covered by Lonhro and is now in foal to the Champion stallion who fittingly claimed the Horse of the Year award on the same night back in 2004.

Exceed And Excel is standing at Kelvinside at a fee of $110,000 inc. GST while his sons Helmet ($33,000 inc. GST) and Kuroshio ($8,800 inc. GST) stand at Northwood Park.
