Dominant week for Lonhro

Heatherly pens third Stakes victory to her name

Imposing daughter of Lonhro Heatherly claimed another Stakes victory on Saturday March 4 when taking out the Listed Bob Hoysted Handicap down the famous Fleimington straight.

The four-year-old mare overcame previous barrier woes and jumped cleanly to then take command of the race. She travelled smoothly throughout and was unrivalled as she cruised to a dominant victory for jockey Damian Lane.

Bred by Dr Gene Tsoi, Heatherly is out of Danzero mare Dancing Heather, who is a half-sister to G1 Stradbroke Handicap winner Linton. Heatherly was purchased for $90,000 at the 2014 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale by Barrie and Midge Griffiths and this marks her third career Stakes victory.

Her win caps off an impressive week for Champion sire Lonhro, who finished as the leading stallion by average at the conclusion of Book One at the recent Inglis Premier Yearling Sale in Melbourne. Headed by the sale of a $440,000 colt, the progeny of Lonhro went on to average $300,000.
