The highest-rated son of Medaglia d’Oro, Astern is on the winners' board with a dashing display of brilliance by his daughter Seradess to win on debut at Bendigo on Tuesday, 23 February over 1,000m.

Jumping from barrier six in the 10-horse field, G1-winning jockey Joe Bowditch settled the filly three-wide at the back of the field.

A tough position for any horse on debut over a sprint distance, on the turn the filly was asked to go wide and sprint home having to make up five lengths on the leading bunch.

Responding as asked, Seradess let down to fly home to victory carrying the colours made famous by four-time G1-winning mare, Divine Madonna.

In the yearling sale ring, a big supporter of the G1 Goldne Rose-winning sire, Dennis Martin of Star Thoroughbreds who race Divina with Chris Waller, a daughter of Astern who's had one start for a Saturday third-place performance, in 2021 has purchased two yearlings by Astern for $130,000 and $190,000 respectively.

When discussing her Astern yearling purchases she said: "Clearly I'm a fan of Astern."
