Lonhro gelding brings up first Stakes win of the new season

After taking out his first Stakes win in Macau four starts back, six-year-old Lonhro gelding Clown Master took out the Listed Macau Cup over 1500m to give the talented galloper his third win from his last four starts.

Trained by John Lau, the now eight-time winner scored by a neck from Weathervane and Jazza Bell in the local G2 race.

Bred by Woodlands Stud, Clown Master is out of the G2-winning, G1 placed Canny Lad mare Seika, a full-sister to the dam of Territory, another Lonhro Stakes winner. A half-brother to G3 winner Clothilde, Clown Master comes from the family of dual G1-winning speedster Sports and the G3 winner Medals.

Recently crowned the Australian Champion sire for the 2010/2011 racing season with earnings in excess of $8.7 million, Lonhro has sired 27 individual Stakes winners headed by G1 winners Denman, Beaded and Benfica. Standing the forthcoming season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $77,000 (inc GST), the Champion sire was recently represented by his first foal of the new season, a bay filly from the Exceed And Excel mare Essaouira.
