Victorian visitor, Another Wil, emerged as another future G1 star for his sire Street Boss when he scored an easy win in the G3 Doncaster Prelude over 1,500m on Saturday, 30 March at Rosehill Gardens.
Having only his seventh start, the long-striding chestnut raced in second spot to the home turn before drawing clear to score by 2.25 lengths from Bandersnatch with Welwal another half-length away in third place.
Another Wil rocketed into calculations for the G1 Doncaster Mile at Royal Randwick on 6 April after graduating at Rosehill from three restricted-class victories in Melbourne.
Out of Arohanui (Bianconi-Danzig) and trained by Ciaron Maher, Another Wil recorded his fifth win with two placings and extended his stakes earnings to just shy of $360,000.
Another Wil, who has a three-year-old half-sister (Tamahine) by Impending, was bred by Mrs J Thomson and not offered at public auction.
He became the 70th individual Stakes-race winner for Street Boss who has sired 925 winners of 2,689 races worldwide.
LIKE A BOSS AT FLEMINGTON
Another Wil wrapped up a stellar day's racing for Street Boss, the son of Street Cry siring another Ciaron Maher trainee in Senegalia (out of Catachuchu {Catbird-Danehill}) - also bred by Mrs J Thomson - who took Race 1 at Flemington over 1,100m.
Midtown Boss (out of Midtown {Manhattan Rain-Encosta de Lago}) - bred by Noorilim Park Thoroughbreds - ensured a race-to-race double for Street Boss at Flemington taking Race 2, also over 1,100m, from trainer Matt Laurie.
Among his 70 Stakes winners of 140 Black-Type races, there are eight G1 winners – including Australia’s former champion galloper Anamoe, who won nine races at the highest level before retiring to stud.
Street Boss stood at Northwood Park in Victoria for 2023 and has nine lots catalogued for the 2024 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale in Sydney on 7-8 April.
