An Everest start all but guaranteed for Street Boss star Tempted

Street Boss’s electric sprinter Tempted is on-song for a second tilt at The Everest after a scintillating victory in the G2 Concorde Stakes at Royal Randwick on Saturday, September 5.

Leaving no doubt she deserved a slot in the world’s richest turf sprint, and first-up since her last-start win in the G1 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint back in April, Tempted all but assuring her Godolphin slot selection.

Starting at odds-on, the four-year-old Ciaron Maher-trained mare sat back in the early running and took to the outside in the straight, collecting the field quickly before an eventual half-length victory with jockey Chad Schofield.

The 1,000-metre sprint, a traditional spring lead-up to The Everest, was won in 55.60s.

“We were pretty confident coming in,” Maher said. “Her turn of foot is still amazing. She even got there too soon, just because she’s so electric.”

The trainer said the mare will have contest the G2 Premiere Stakes on October 3 at Royal Randwick before The Everest on October 17.

“The plan is the Premiere, which will give her a month between runs, and then into The Everest from there,” Maher said.

Tempted finished second to Ka Ying Rising in last year’s The Everest. She was then rested before returning to the Sydney autumn with a clean sweep of the G3 Eskimo Prince Stakes, G1 Surround Stakes and G1 Arrowfield 3YO Stakes.

Her victory first-up in the Concorde Stakes confirmed she is one of the hottest, most consistent Australian sprinting stars.

She has eight wins from 13 starts, with prizemoney of over $6.4 million, and she remains unbeaten in 2026.

By Street Boss, she is a daughter of the Exceed And Excel mare Calliope, a credentialled filly herself with wins in the G2 Magic Night Stakes and Listed Gimcrack Stakes, while Tempted is a half-sister to the multiple Group-winner Kallos and the precocious, Group-placed Zambales .

Street Boss nows boasts 33 Australian stakes winners, his strong form rolling on since last weekend’s G3 Courtza Stakes winner Custom.

He stands at Darley’s Northwood Park in Victoria for $66,000 incl. GST, with his influence reaching new generations through his son Tentyris, a debutant on the Kelvinside roster this spring after a glittering G1 career.
