Boss Sully impresses in California Flag Handicap at Santa Anita

Street Boss gelding tallies his second Stakes victory of the year

Boss Sully tracked pacesetter Flyover from second and wore that rival down in the stretch to win the $100,000 California Flag Handicap going about 6 ½ furlongs on the hillside turf course at Santa Anita on Saturday, 10 October.

The California Flag victory was the second Stakes win this season for Boss Sully, a six-year-old gelding by Street Boss. The gelding races for the partnership of Rusty Brown, Alan Klein, and Phil Lebherz.

Flyover, ridden by Emisael Jaramillo, set moderate fractions of 22.42 and 44.42 seconds for the opening half mile before Boss Sully, with Mike Smith aboard, edged past him and prevailed in a time of 1:12.83.

Bred in California by PT Syndicate #1 LLC, Boss Sully is out the Candy Ride mare, Eternally, and hails from the immediate family of G1-placed Miss Jean Brodie and G3 winner, Comicas.

Street Boss stands at Darley’s Northwood Park in Victoria for $66,000 inc. GST. His influence on the Darley roster continues through his G1-winning son Tentyris, who joins Kelvinside in 2026 following victories in the G1 Lightning Stakes and G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes.
