Street Boss mare Tempted confirmed she is on target for a second start in The Everest with a decisive victory in the G2 Premiere Stakes (1,200m) at Randwick on Saturday, 3 October.
The Godolphin homebred settled near the rear under Chad Schofield before accelerating past her rivals in the straight to win by 2.98 lengths.
Her final 600m of 34.26 seconds was the fastest recorded across the 10-race Randwick meeting.
Tempted finished second in The Everest as a three-year-old last year and will return to the $20 million race on Saturday, 17 October.
The G1 Surround Stakes winner began her spring campaign with a narrow victory in the G2 Concorde Stakes before producing one of the strongest performances of her career in the Premiere Stakes.
“It probably is her best win, the way she put them away,” trainer Ciaron Maher said.
“It was a very good field and she made them look like they’re nothing special. It’s a genuine G1 field and the way she quickened, which is her best asset, she’s one of a kind.”
Tempted is out of the Medaglia d’Oro mare Berimbau, making her a half-sister to G2 winner Kallos and G3-placed Zambales.
She is among the leading performers by Street Boss, whose honour roll also includes Darley stallions Anamoe, Tentyris and Traffic Warden.
Street Boss stands at Darley’s Northwood Park for $66,000 including GST.
