One in five Australian G1 wins carry the influence of Street Cry

Few stallions have left an influence on Australian racing quite like Street Cry and an analysis of every Australian G1 race across the past three seasons reveals the remarkable extent of his impact.

Of the 227 G1 races run in Australia during that period, 40 were won by horses either descending from Street Cry through his sire line or produced from his daughters.

That represents 17.6% of all Australian G1 wins, almost one in every five.

Australian G1 races offered a combined $423.8 million in prizemoney across the three seasons, with Street Cry-influenced winners claiming $77.4 million, or 18.3% of the entire pool.

The numbers have continued to build season on season, with 11 G1 wins followed by 15 and another 14 in 2025/26. That means 29 of the 40 victories have come in the past two seasons alone.

Importantly, that success has not been confined to one horse, distance or jurisdiction.

Street Cry’s influence has produced 23 individual G1 winners across 32 different G1 races in four states, spanning distances from 1,000m to 2,500m.

Pride Of Jenni, Broadsiding and Treasurethe Moment have each contributed four G1 victories, while Tom Kitten, Bella Nipotina and Jimmysstar have added three apiece.

The strength of Street Cry’s legacy is also evident on both sides of the pedigree.

Twenty-one of the 40 victories came through his sire line, with another 19 through his daughters. The latter includes all four of Broadsiding’s G1 victories, three from Tom Kitten and Cylinder’s G1 Newmarket Handicap.

At the heart of the sire-line success is Street Boss. The son of Street Cry accounted for seven of the 21 G1 wins, in races carrying a combined $8 million in prizemoney.

His influence has continued to accelerate in 2026, with four individual G1 winners: Tentyris, Pericles, Tempted and Green Spaces, placing Street Boss among the world’s top 10 sires by individual G1 winners for the year.

That same line now continues at Darley through three stallions at different stages of their careers.

Anamoe, a nine-time G1 winner and former Australian Horse of the Year, represents the established next generation of Street Boss. Tentyris, the dual G1-winning sprinter by Street Boss, brings elite Australian speed, while Traffic Warden offers breeders another direct son of Street Boss with a high-class two- and three-year-old race record.

Together, Anamoe, Tentyris and Traffic Warden provide Australian breeders with three opportunities to access a line that continues to influence the country’s biggest races.
