Pericles chalks up another feature for Street Boss

Fourth victory at Stakes level for son of elite Darley sire

Remarkable Darley stallion Street Boss (US) added another feature race to his burgeoning stud record when Pericles won the G2 Tramway Stakes at Royal Randwick on Saturday, 6 September.

Having his first start since transferring from James Cummings to Bjorn Baker at Warwick Farm, Pericles jumped from a wide barrier to sit behind the leaders before challenging at the 200m pole.

Ridden by Josh Parr, the six-year-old raced past Private Eye to win by 1.2 lengths in a slick 1 minute 22.38 seconds for 1,400m distance, with With Your Blessing a half-length away in third place.

It was Pericles’ second Tramway Stakes success after winning the race two years ago.

Victory lifted his record to seven wins and 10 placings from 28 starts for prize-money and bonuses totalling a massive $5.63 million.

Out of the marvellous English broodmare Accessories, who is also the dam of G1 winners Epaulette and Helmet, plus Stakes winners Pearls and Bullbars, Pericles has now won four times at Stakes level and could be on target to contest the G1 King Charles III Stakes 1,600m at Randwick next month.

Street Boss has now sired an incredible 1,035 winners of 3,112 races world-wide, worth A$165.67 million in prize-money.

The stallion, who boasts 82 individual Stakes winners of 167 Black-Type races and is the sire of 10 G1 winners, is standing at Darley’s Northwood Park farm in Victoria this season for a service fee of $66,000, GST inclusive.
