A third Stakes-race victory for The Boss Lady

Street Boss mare overpowers G3 rivals to win feature race at Pinjarra

A more positive ride from Shaun McGruddy paid big dividends when The Boss Lady finished fastest at Pinjarra on Wednesday, 28 May to win Belmont Sprint in track-record time for 1,400m.

The four-year-old daughter of Darley stallion Street Boss (USA) added the Sprint to her victories in the Listed Jungle Dawn Classic at Ascot last year, and the G3 Roma Cup at the same track just last month.

Usually a backmarker, McGruddy settled The Boss Lady in fourth place on the fence before squeezing out at the top of the home straight and running down Magnificent Andy to win by a long neck.

West Star was a head away in third place as the winner clocked 1 minute 22.91 seconds, with a final 600m split of sub-33.19.

Trained by Michael Lane at Boyanup, The Boss Lady took her overall record to 11 wins and four placings from 20 starts for prize-money and bonus earnings of $979,690.

Out of the Australian mare Top Of The Class, The Boss Lady was bred and is part-owned by the Canal Enterprise Syndicate and is now likely to be spelled before returning for major spring targets, according to Lane.

Street Boss continues to sire winners all around the world and now has 1,011 and a tally of 3,043 races.

His 82 individual Stakes-race winners have won 164 Black-Type events, with his champion son Anamoe a nine-time G1 winner and now standing at stud for Darley in NSW.

Street Boss will again head the stallion roster at Northwood Park in Victoria this coming season, standing for a service fee of $66,000 including GST.
