Street Boss brings up juvenile double with Hanseatic in Australia

Brilliant colt races his way into G1 Blue Diamond calculations

Street Boss colt Hanseatic placed himself among the top bracket of this season’s Australian two-year-olds with a brilliant victory in Saturday’s Listed Blue Diamond Preview at Caulfield.

At the same time, he added to a superb weekend for his sire whose son Valaquenta scored a similarly impressive win on debut at Moonee Valley the previous night.

Hanseatic is now a leading contender for Australia’s first juvenile G1 of the season, the Blue Diamond Stakes run at Caulfield on 22 February.

A winner on debut at Sandown in November at his only previous start, Hanseatic was on his toes in the parade before his latest outing and had to endure a four-wide passage for the first 800m.

But when rider Luke Currie called on him, the colt put the result beyond doubt in a couple of strides, racing away to an unextended 2-1/2 length victory over Glenfiddich with Fixated in third place.

Trainer Anthony Freedman said Hanseatic would run next in the G3 Blue Diamond Prelude on 8 February.

Hanseatic is from the winning Exceed And Excel mare Itameri whose granddam Scandinavia produced Helsinge, the dam of the unbeaten champion sprinter Black Caviar.

Street Boss is currently standing the Northern-hemisphere breeding season at a fee of $20,000 at Jonabell Farm, Kentucky.
