Son of Exceed And Excel shows typical brilliance at Riccarton

Al Hasa wins by six lengths at second start

The brilliance that is customary among the stock of Exceed And Excel went on full display at Riccarton in New Zealand on 18 November when Al Hasa scored a dominant victory in the Listed Welcome Stakes.

Al Hasa jumped straight to the front and was given full reign entering the final 400m to race away to a six length win over Thunder Bay.

The colt, who had raced only once previously for a second placing, is the first foal of the Oasis Dream mare Oasis Rose. He was bred by Sir Patrick and Lady Justine Hogan and Dr Gene Tsoi.

He is raced by the Te Akau Breeding Syndicate which has had great success with Gingernuts, a son of Darley’s outstanding NZ-based stallion Iffraaj.

Al Hasa became the 141st Stakes winner for Exceed And Excel who is standing the southern hemisphere season at Kelvinside in New South Wales at fee of $110,000 including GST.
