Sky is the limit for speedy colt

G1 Blue Diamond Stakes next target for impressive son of Bivouac

Big Sky remained unbeaten and stamped his G1 Blue Diamond Stakes claims next month with a dominant victory at Caulfield on Saturday, 31 January.

The big-striding son of former champion Godolphin sprinter Bivouac jumped straight to the lead under jockey Ben Melham and never looked in danger of defeat in the G3 Chairman’s Stakes over 1,000m for two-year-olds.

A brilliant first-up winner at Flemington two weeks earlier, Big Sky raced clear to beat Invincible Son by three lengths with La Gitana another half-length away in third place.

Big Sky stopped the clock on 58.06 seconds, carrying 59kg and taking his prize-money tally to $204,100 for Cranbourne co-trainers Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr.

Bred by Eureka Cambooya Thoroughbreds Pty Ltd out of Australian mare Zoom By, who visited Anamoe last November, Big Sky was offered at the 2025 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and bought by Mick Price Racing and Breeding Pty Ltd for $140,000.

Big Sky became the fourth Stakes-race winner for triple G1 champion Bivouac, who had progeny sell at the recent Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale up to $300,000.

The young Darley stallion has seven colts and six fillies in the catalogue for the 2026 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in Sydney from February 8-10.
