Shanghai Glory strikes at the Curragh

Son of Exceed And Excel lands the Listed Waterford Testimonial Stakes

Exceed And Excel’s good run continued on Sunday 9 October when his three-year-old son Shanghai Glory won his first Stakes race in the Listed Waterford Testimonial Stakes. Run over six furlongs at the Curragh, he was winning his fourth career race after a juvenile success at Nottingham and a farce of victories this season at Epsom and Lingfield.

Bred by Owenstown Stud, he is out of the Hector Protector mare Hecuba and a half-brother to the Stakes winner Choose Me, dam herself of this season’s G3 Atalanta Stakes winner Persuasive. Hecuba also has a full-brother foal to Shanghai Glory.

Exceed And Excel has now sired 25 Stakes winners on the year, only behind Dubawi, Galileo and Deep Impact. This includes the dual G1 winner Flamberge and Group winning juveniles Yalta and Hit The Bid. He stands this season at a fee of $110,000.
