Second Stakes win of the weekend for Exceed And Excel

Passaggio dead-heats in the Listed Premio d'Estate at Milan

Exceed And Excel sired his second new Stakes winner of the weekend when his three-year-old son Passaggio dead-heated in the Listed Premio d'Estate over 1600m at Milan. Taking seven starts to break his Maiden, he hasn't stopped improving since and came here on the back of a good Conditions race win at Rome.

From the family of ill-fated French 2,000 Guineas winner Landseer, he was bred in Italy by Emilio Giorgi out of the unraced Generous mare, Copius.

Passaggio becomes Exceed And Excel's 14th Stakes winner of 2011. In Australia he has sired the dual G1 winning juvenile Helmet while in Europe he has the runaway German 2,000 Guineas hero, Excelebration, who is due to lock horns with Frankel in the G1 St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot on Tuesday. Exceed And Excel will shortly be coming back to Australia to stand at Kelvinside, NSW at a fee of $66,000 Inc GST.
