Rock Dove gives Epaulette and Godolphin a second Tasmanian feature

Filly follows Cossetot to Listed victory at Elwick

Darley stallion Epaulette claimed his second Tasmanian feature event for the weekend when Rock Dove raced to an impressive win in the Listed Strutt Stakes at Elwick in Hobart on Sunday, 10 February.

The daughter of the Dubawi mare Pouter followed the example of her Godolphin stablemate and son of Epaulette, Cossetot who won the Listed Tasmanian Derby at the same course on Friday, 8 February.

Rock Dove became Epaulette’s sixth Stakes winner and continued a productive year for the young stallion, taking his winning tally for 2019 to 14 with victories in Australia, Ireland, Britain and India.

Under a confident ride from Brendan McCoull, Rock Dove settled in midfield of the 10 runners, improving from the 500m to be challenging for the lead turning for home.

Following a course next to the outside fence, Rock Dove had too much class, scoring by two lengths from Our Long Sally.

Rock Dove has a half-brother by Brazen Beau catalogued for Tuesday’s session of the Inglis Classic Sale in Sydney.
