Martini Red continues Red Ransom's excellent run; another Stakes winner for Reset

Red Ransom has been enjoying a golden period recently and it continued on 26 April when Martini Red was victorious in the G3 Breeders Stakes at Te Rapa.

Bred by Trelawney Stud, she was recording her second G3 victory of the season for her trainer Ross Elliot. An unbeaten two-year-old, she has now won six races from only nine starts.

She will also be a valuable broodmare when she is retired to the paddocks, as her dam is the G1 winning Centaine mare Pernod.

Red Ransom has sired eight individual group winners in 2008 including Australian G2 scorer Portillo and current 1000 Guineas second favourite Muthabarra.

At Randwick, Reset colt Likefatherlikeson landed the Listed Fernhill Handicap over 1600m. Trained by Graeme Rogerson, the colt improved for the step up in trip to score decisively by one and a half lengths and now heads for the G1 Champagne Stakes.

Reset has now sired two Stakes winners after the G3 victory of Rebel Raider a fortnight ago.

Another Darley stallion among the winners was Xaar, when his colt Dalzar won the Listed Queensland Day 3-y-o Plate at Eagle Farm. He was recording his first Stakes win and is another good advert for his sire, who has already sired Acey Ducey to win the G2 Phar Lap Stakes recently.
