New winner for first-season sire Belardo

Lenny Belardo gets off the mark at Pisa

Lenny Belardo, a first-crop son of Belardo, landed a first win when taking a two-year-old handicap at Pisa on Sunday, 22 November. Placed on previous starts and carrying top weight, the two-year-old British-bred colt broke his maiden for trainer Agostino Affe.

Bred by Aston Mullins Stud and Mr S. Barrow, Lenny Belardo is out of the winning Invincible Spirit mare Tina’s Spirit, a half-sister to G3 Prix du Calvados winner Charlotte O Fraise and the Listed-wining Luck Money. They are out of a winning Machiavellian daughter of Dunoof, an own sister to G1 winner High Hawk, dam of G1 Breeder’s Cup Turf hero In The Wings. This is the direct female family of Chachamaidee, Space Blues and Dubawi.

Belardo has made a sensational start at stud with 4 Stakes winners from his first northern hemisphere crop including G2 Rockfel Stakes victrix Isabella Giles and G3 Prix Miesque heroine Lullaby Moon. Last week, Belardo added a 5th worldwide Stakes winner with Avonallo landing a breakthrough southern hemisphere win in the Listed Welcome Stakes.

Belardo will stand at Kildangan Stud in 2021 at a fee of €10,000, Oct 1, SLF.
