Ghaiyyath’s Classic-placed daughter Mandanaba returned to the winner’s enclosure on her seasonal debut over the previously untried trip of 1,400m at Paris-Longchamp with victory in the Listed Maurice Zilber Stakes. The well-bred filly sat in midfield before travelling with ease into the final furlongs to hold on by a neck over the fast-finishing G2 filly Godspeed.
This is Mandanaba’s second Black Type victory after her G3 Prix Vanteaux win last April, also at Longchamp, which was followed by her third placing in the G1 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches and fourth in the G1 Prix de Diane. A homebred for Princess Zahra Aga Khan, she is the last foal out of multiple G1-winning mare Mandesha.
The filly is from World Champion Ghaiyyath’s first crop who are clearly improving with age, demonstrated by G1 Jebel Hatta hero Opera Ballo and Magnolia Stakes scorer Gethin, both victorious earlier in the year.
Ghaiyyath is returning to Northwood Park in Victoria for the upcoming breeding season, standing at $88,000 inc GST. His hugely successful season included Observer's win in the G1 Australian Guineas and Victoria Derby, while his Stakes winners to runners ratio sits at an outstanding 11%.
