Macron kicks clear in the stretch to win the Iowa Sprint Stakes at Prairie Meadows

Four-year-old Frosted gelding impresses when earning first Stakes victory

Macron rallied from just off the pace to post a two-and-three-quarter length victory in the $100,000 Iowa Sprint Stakes at Prairie Meadows on Friday, 8 July.

It was the first Stakes win for the four-year-old son of Frosted, who has now won four of 13 starts and earned $340,973. The Ultra-consistent gelding has finished in the money in nine of his 13 career starts.

Macron sat just off Minister of Soul as that rival led through swift opening fractions of 22.02 for the opening quarter and 44.64 through the half-mile. Minister of Soul continued to hold on to a slight lead until the top of the stretch, when Macron switched gears and took command, eventually drawing off to win easily.

Macron was bred in Kentucky by Nursery Place, Donaldson and Broadbent and is a half-brother to the multiple Graded Stakes-winning filly, Egg Drop (G1 Matriarch, G2 Yellow Ribbon, etc.). Macron’s dam, Rehocracy is a full-sister to multiple Stakes winner Redoubled Miss and hails from the family of multiple Stakes winners Wakan Tanka, Lisa’s Booby Trap and Not That Brady.

In addition to Macron, Frosted is also the sire of Frosted Over, Canadian Sovereign Award Champion three-year-old colt of 2021, who recently captured the G3 Dominion Day Stakes at Woodbine. Frosted is also the sire of G2 Fair Grounds Oaks winner Travel Column, who just returned off a 13-month layoff to win at Churchill Downs. His other 2022 runners include G3 winners Ingratiating and Cloudy (both in Australia).
