Kiwia too strong in G3 Coongy

Son of Reset makes it six wins from nine starts

Talent and consistency had their rewards when Kiwia overpowered his rivals to win the G3 Coongy Handicap at Caulfield on 21 October, adding another Stakes win to the record of his sire Reset.

The victory took Kiwia’s record to six wins and three minor placings from his nine starts, at the same time making him Reset’s 32nd Stakes winner.

A patient ride from Damian Lane allowed Kiwia to put his superior stamina and turn of foot to good use, claiming the lead 100m out and going on to score by three-quarters of a length from Samovare.

Kiwia is a gelded son of the unraced Danehill Dancer mare Single View, a sister to the short-course specialist Tuscan Sling whose six wins included one at G3 level.

Kiwia was bred by his owner Limerick Lane Thoroughbreds which is headed by prolific Australian owner-breeder Gerry Ryan.

Reset stands at Northwood Park in Victoria at A$16,500 including GST.
