Tom Kitten (Harry Angel) displayed his huge potential and provided young shuttle stallion Harry Angel with another feature-race winner on Saturday, 8 April when he won the Listed Fernhill Mile (1,600m) for two-year-olds at Royal Randwick.
The strong James Cummings-trained colt came from last at the home turn with Nash Rawiller in the saddle to mow down Make A Call to win by a short-neck. Townsend finished third, one length further away.
Tom Kitten, out of the Australian mare Transfers - who is the dam of 2020 Canberra Guineas (Listed) winner Promotions, was having only his fourth start and avenged an unlucky fifth placing in the G2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes at Sandown at his previous start.
Cummings indicated the juvenile was set to back up next Saturday in the G1 Champagne Stakes (1,600m) at Randwick.
Tom Kitten has a yearling half-brother by Brazen Beau and his dam was covered by Palace Pier last September.
Harry Angel, a dual G1 winner on the track, has already sired 34 winners of 58 races.
He has already sired two Stakes winners in Australia, providing an outstanding 14.2% Stakes winners-to-runner ratio. That includes the G1 Blue Diamond placegetter Arkansaw Kid.
