Harry Angel posted a new Stakes winner at Hawkesbury’s feature meeting on Saturday, May 2, when the four-year-old Zealously, racing for a syndicate led by Black Soil Bloodstock, won the Listed Hawkesbury Gold Rush over 1,100 metres.
Trained by Peter Snowden, the gelding was a race favourite after a strong trial win at Randwick last month. He proved a conclusive winner at Hawkesbury, stretching to a near two-length victory for a sixth overall career win.
Bred by the Vieira Group and sold by Widden Stud as a Magic Millions yearling, Zealously was a $270,000 purchase for Snowden Racing and Will Johnson Bloodstock in 2023. He is from the Sepoy mare Duenna, herself a daughter of the Stakes-winning Commands mare Palomares, which is the family that produced Darley’s Champion two-year-old filly, the G1-winning Earthquake (Exceed And Excel).
Zealously is from Harry Angel’s second Australian crop and is the stallion’s seventh Australian Stakes winner overall, his sixth this season alongside the likes of the dual All-Star Mile winner Tom Kitten and the smart sprinter Private Harry.
Harry Angel will return to Darley’s Kelvinside in the Hunter Valley this spring at an announced fee of $88,000.
