The first reported foal by dual G1 winner and Champion juvenile Earthlight was born at Plantation Stud in Newmarket on Sunday, 16 January.
A bay filly out of the Group-placed multiple winner Achnaha (Haatef), she is from the family of Stakes-winning two-year-old and producer Dusky Queen, plus Sweet Solera Stakes winner Albabilia.
Plantation Stud’s James Berney described her as an, “Attractive, correct bay filly with loads of substance. We are very happy with her.
"We used Earthlight as he was a very high-class racehorse, being Champion two-year-old in France and a son of Shamardal out of a talented racemare.
"He looks to have all the credentials to be a top-class sire! We will be supporting him again this year."
Earthlight, an outstanding son of Shamardal, was undefeated during an exceptional juvenile campaign. Having won on his debut, he posted a wide-margin win at Deauville next time out before winning the G3 Prix de Cabourg by four lengths over the same course and distance.
He added a first G1 victory in the Darley Prix Morny, before taking the G1 Middle Park in record time – a record previously held by Oasis Dream. He was duly crowned France’s Champion two-year-old that year.
Earthlight returns to Northwood Park, Victoria in 2022 standing at an unchanged fee of $22,000 including GST.
