Exceed And Excel mare overpowers rivals in G3 Furphy Sprint

Minhaaj brings up her third Group victory at Flemington

Speedy mare Minhaaj again stamped her class with a dominant win in the G3 Furphy Sprint over 1,100m at Flemington in Melbourne on Saturday, 30 October.

The four-year-old daughter of Exceed And Excel was heavily backed into favouritism and didn’t disappoint jockey James McDonald with an easy victory over Ballistic Lover and Mileva in the $200,000 scamper.

A first-up winner of the G3 The Nivison over 1,200m at Randwick in Sydney three weeks earlier, Minhaaj improved her record to five wins and two placings from just 10 starts for new trainer John O’Shea.

Minhaaj has an unraced two-year-old full sister, Movie Matinee, and her dam foaled a full brother last month.

Exceed And Excel, who now has 204 Stakes winners to his credit, finished the 2021 Inglis Easter Sale as the leading sire on average at $733,000.

He stands at Kelvinside Park in the Hunter Valley at a service fee of $132,000, including GST.
