Hill of Gold becomes latest Stakes winner for his sire

Exceed And Excel six-year-old gelding Hill of Gold claimed his first Stakes win in the Listed Great Easter Handicap at Riccarton Park, New Zealand on 4 May.

Ridden to perfection by jockey Leith Innes, Hill of Gold raced on the speed throughout and maintained a sustained run to the line winning by a half-head for his sixth career victory. Hill of Gold (ex Queen of the Blues) becomes the eigth individual Stakes winner for his sire this season. Hill of Gold was bred by Mrs. SA Anderson, Karina Breeding Parternship and M Otto.

Exceed And Excel has been making plenty of headlines of late, recently topping the Doncaster breeze up sale with one of his colt’s selling for £300,000 - a new sale record. This remarkable sire also recorded a Stakes-winning double recently when G1 winner Excelebration made a winning seasonal debut in the G3 Gladness Stakes, and Alkhafif won the Listed Chairman’s Trophy in Macau.

Exceed And Excel is sire of 16 individual Group winners worldwide, four of whom have won at the highest level. This year he has sired nine Black type performers to date, including G1 Blue Diamond Stakes third Armed For Action and will stand the forthcoming season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $66,000 (inc GST).
