European Stakes double for Epaulette

Insignia Of Rank and Lapulced’acqua take Black Type honours

Epaulette enjoyed a fruitful weekend with his European runners with two new Stakes winners. Insignia Of Rank kicked off proceedings on Saturday, 29 June when taking the Listed Celebration Stakes over a mile at the Curragh. Chasing the leaders, the four-year-old gelding mounted a challenge in the final furlong to get up and win by a short head.

Bred by Eamonn Phelan and Reuben Solomon, Insignia of Rank is a half-brother to three winners out of the winning Dixie Union mare Let Me Shine, herself out of a half-sister to G1 winner Aviance.

24 hours later, Lapulced’acqua added a second Stakes victory when taking the G3 Premio del Giubileo at San Siro in Italy. Previously placed in Listed company, the filly raced keenly seizing the lead approaching the final furlong to stay on and win by half a length.

Bred by Anfonso Litta, Lapulced’acqua is the first foal from Rosa Del Ponte (Authorized), a half-sister to Listed winners Rosa Eglanteria and Ransom Shift.

Epaulette is the sire of eight Stakes winners in 2019 including the three-time G1 winner Soqrat and the G3-winning duo Military Zone and She Shao Fly.

Epaulette will stand the 2019 breeding season at Kelvinside, NSW, at a fee of $27,500, including GST.
