Dominant juvenile Group winner for Shooting To Win

Extra Time runs away with G3 National Stakes in Adelaide

Shooting To Win registered a new juvenile Stakes winner thanks to a brilliant display of sheer speed from Extra Time in the G3 National Stakes over 1,200m at Morphettville in Adelaide on Saturday, 16 May.

Sent to the front at barrier rise by jockey Jason Holder, Extra Time set a solid pace through the first half of the 1,200m race and then shook off his opposition with another turn of foot at the 300m mark to win impressively running away.

A $140,000 yearling purchase by his trainer Leon Macdonald, Extra Time had three and a half lengths to spare on the line over Kazuhiko with Hard Rock Girl in third place.

The gelding, who was bred by Armidale Stud in Tasmania, is the first foal from the Handsome Reason mare Gwynnethanne, a winner of seven races in New Zealand.

Extra Time is the 46th winner from two crops to race by Shooting To Win who will stand the 2020 southern hemisphere breeding season at Kelvinside, NSW at a fee of $16,500, including GST.
