Domesday three-year-old shows plenty of ticker in maiden Stakes success

Heart Starter claims the Listed Lex Piper Stakes at Ascot to become his sire's 10th Stakes winner

Domesday’s three-year-old son Heart Starter made the progression to Stakes company with ease, recording a brilliant win in the Listed Lex Piper Stakes over 1600m at Ascot on 5 March.

A last-start winner of a Bunbury maiden, Heart Starter faced a significant rise in class in his Stakes debut. After jumping well he assumed control of the race and never relinquished the lead, kicking clear after straightening before going on to win comfortably.

A homebred for Bob Peters, Heart Starter was one of two Stakes winners on the day for his Listed-winning dam Flaming Heart who also had Real Love win the Listed Roy Higgins Quality at Flemington.

Heart Starter is the 10th Stakes winner for Domesday who is the sire of G1 winners Pressday and Doctor Doom.
