'Class prevails'

That was the opinion of trainer Gai Waterhouse as Carnegie's sensational daughter Tuesday Joy claimed her third G1 victory

Tuesday Joy gave her followers plenty to smile about on Saturday with a superb victory in The BMW (2400m) at Rosehill, a year after she recorded her first G1 victory there in the Coolmore Classic.

The four-year-old Carnegie filly travelled beautifully under a text book ride from Darren Beadman, having tracked in from a wide draw for a tow behind the leading pack.  She cruised to a perfect attacking position on the turn before kicking for home with a burst of speed in the straight to win by a length and a half.

From a family of Oaks winners out of the Danehill mare Joie Denise, Tuesday Joy oozes class and her trainer hinted at the possibility of a trip to Paris in October for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, a race won by her sire in 1994, though a tilt at the Melbourne Cup may keep her at home.

Kalash became Exceed And Excel's tenth winner of the season when scoring over 1100m at Caulfield. Out of the Naturalism mare True Blonde, the chestnut colt had been placed on each of his three previous starts.

Three-year-old Listed winner Bernicia, by Elusive Quality, took a step up to G1 company for only her fourth racecourse start and ran a decent fourth in the Arrowfield Stud Stakes while over in New Zealand, Al Farouk (Cape Cross) was third in the G3 Easter Cup Stakes at Riccarton Park.
