The search to find the next champion

The extraordinary record of shuttling some of the most influential stallions to Australia could be topped by the four sons of Shamardal standing at Kelvinside and Northwood Park this season.

Most recently, the incredible mare Winx (Street Cry) shows the shuttle stallion's importance in Australian racing and why we continue this trend to find the next champion.

Shamardal, a bred-shaper who has had an enormous influence in Australia, is set to continue through his sons:

  • Pinatubo, the Horse of the Year who was Timeform rated 134.
  • Victor Ludorum, an unbeaten G1-winning two-year-old, emulated his sire, winning the 2000 French Guineas at three.
  • Earthlight, a Champion Two-Year-Old winning five from five at two.
  • Blue Point, the four-time G1-winning sprinter.

Caroline Searcy previews the four outstanding sons of the Shamardal and outlines the unique opportunity that southern hemisphere breeders have access to.
